Dr. Huacuz is a General Surgeon with a specialty in Bariatric Surgery, which is doubly certified by both the Mexican Council of General Surgery and the Mexican College of Surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Diseases, in addition to being a Regular Member of the ASMBS and IFSO.

Subsequently, he completed a one-year training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at Clinic No. 20 of the IMSS Tijuana, followed by training in Adjustable Gastric Band and later collaborating with the group of surgeons who performed the protocols in Mexico for the approval of the Gastric Band by the FDA for its authorization as a restrictive procedure in the United States and performing more than 8000 surgeries.
He also received training by Dr. Baltazar in Alcoy Spain in Laparoscopic Duodenal Switch, Gastric Bypass, Gastric Sleeve and SADI Procedure. In 2004 after which he has dedicated himself to the private practice of Bariatric Surgery 100% helping thousands of patients to improve their quality of life with weight loss surgery offering the indicated procedure depending on the degree of obesity and personalized attention to combat metabolic diseases caused by obesity such as: Diabetes, Arterial Hypertension, Sleep Apnea , Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Cerebral Pseudotumor Syndrome etc.
He has more than 20 years of experience in the area of General Surgery and Training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery.
Currently Dr. Huacuz is the tenured professor of the Laparoscopic Surgery for Surgeons course at the HGR01 of the IMSS Tijuana for 10 years where he receives two fellows annually.
In addition to being an adjunct professor of the Training Course for Residents in General Surgery at the Hospital HGR01 IMSS Tijuana where at the same time he continues his work as General Surgeon for 15 years and has been a professor of the Course of Surgical Pathology for the UABC for more than 8 years.
He is a certified bariatric surgeon who seeks day by day the continuous improvement of his professional performance, making his passion for surgery the solution of his patients, this being reflected in the excellent postsurgical results of the patients treated by him. Likewise, it continues to update itself with international courses, in addition to carrying out research protocols to evaluate and measure results, which helps it identify the opportunity to improve in each procedure for the benefit of its patients, performing their surgeries under quality control according to the international standards with the most advanced technology at the moment.

Dr. Daniel Huacuz graduated from the Michoacan University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo as surgeon and obstetrician in the medical school in Dr. Ignacio Chávez in the city of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. He completed his undergraduate internship at the Vasco de Quiroga Hospital, wich is located also in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. His specialty in General Surgery was carried out at the General Hospital of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Dr. Huacuz was Professor of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Baja California in 2000.
Dr. Huacuz is a pioneer and leader in the field of Laparoscopic Surgery and minimal invasion, and has more than 14 years of experience in the placement of the Gastric Band made his specialty as a student Dr. Juan Antonio López Corvala and Fernando Guzmán Cordero 1999 To 2001. He also has 9 years of experience in the development of gastric sleeve, gastric bypass and duodenal switch. He is one of the first surgeons certified by INAMED and a supplier of the only gastric band approved by the FDA for use in 2001.
He is the only surgeon in Mexico who performs Duodenal Cross Surgery, he was a disciple of Dr. Aniceto Baltazar in Alcoy, Spain in the implementation of the gastric sleeve and the laparoscopic duodenal switch in 2004.
