Subsequently, he completed a one-year training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at Clinic No. 20 of the IMSS Tijuana, followed by training in Adjustable Gastric Band and later collaborating with the group of surgeons who performed the protocols in Mexico for the approval of the Gastric Band by the FDA for its authorization as a restrictive procedure in the United States and performing more than 8000 surgeries.

Dr. Daniel Huacuz graduated from the Michoacan University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo as surgeon and obstetrician in the medical school in Dr. Ignacio Chávez in the city of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. He completed his undergraduate internship at the Vasco de Quiroga Hospital, wich is located also in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. His specialty in General Surgery was carried out at the General Hospital of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Dr. Huacuz was Professor of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Baja California in 2000.
Dr. Huacuz is a pioneer and leader in the field of Laparoscopic Surgery and minimal invasion, and has more than 14 years of experience in the placement of the Gastric Band made his specialty as a student Dr. Juan Antonio López Corvala and Fernando Guzmán Cordero 1999 To 2001. He also has 9 years of experience in the development of gastric sleeve, gastric bypass and duodenal switch. He is one of the first surgeons certified by INAMED and a supplier of the only gastric band approved by the FDA for use in 2001.
